Description:
EDC is currently seeking, for immediate engagement, an experienced, French-speaking, Business Development Specialist to assist a nascent youth livelihood NGO in its development of a business plan, and to assist five sub-units of this NGO, each located in relatively remote provinces, with the conduct of a local market and a labor demand assessment, so that each sub-unit can develop an income-generating activity that will serve dually to: a) provide the subunit with operating funds; b) serve as an enterprise and/or vocational training opportunity for low skilled, minimally educated youth.
This is a twenty-eight day assignment, to begin immediately and end no later than December 2010, as necessary and mutually determined by specialist and EDC, consisting of two, 12-day field trips to Haiti, plus days for deliverables production. Field visits will take place in both Port au Prince and to each of the 5 targeted regions.
The Specialist is expected to work closely with an existing Haitian Business Development Specialist for this assignment.
Required experience/skills:
-Demonstrated experience in business plan development, market assessment and labor market assessment.
-Demonstrated success in micro and small business start up.
-Experience working in developing country, francophone environments.
-Excellent communication skills in French and in English.
-Strong references.
Preferred experience/skills:
-Experience working/living in Haiti.
-Knowledge of Creole.
